Welcome to the home of the Johnson Amateur Radio Service (JARS). JARS was organized in 2007 to promote the further growth and support of the Amateur Radio Service and provide communications support during times of disaster, civil emergency, or any other time that it serves the public interest.

As amateur operators, JARS can provide a very reliable communications system, even when power is out, cell phone towers are overloaded or compromised, and any time when other normal methods of communication are interrupted.

Amateur Radio is constantly on the leading edge of radio technology and can communicate across the street or across the world using voice, morse code, and even computer driven text messaging.....without phones or the Internet.

JARS is dedicated to helping federal, state, and local governments ensure reliable and interoperable communications systems to unburden critical human and equipment resources during times of disaster and/or emergency. This mission critical services are provided on a volunteer basis by JARS, at no cost to the government or taxpayers.

We thank you for visiting out online home, and encourage you to spend some time looking around, and please feel free to let us know if you have any questions. If you are a HAM radio operator or are interested in becoming on and you live in or near the Johnson County, Texas area, we would love to have you as part of our team, and encourage you to visit our membership section for more information. Have a great day!
