Welcome to the online home of the Johnson Amateur Radio Service (JARS). JARS was organized in 2007 to promote the growth of and to support the Amateur Radio Service and provide communications support during times of disaster, civil emergency, or any other time that it serves the public interest.

We meet at 7:00 PM on the first Thursday of each month in the Training room of the Mansfield Fire Department located at 3100 East Broad Street, Mansfield, TX (Fire station #3). Our meetings are open to licensed amateurs and people interested in becoming amateurs, so please join us!

As Amateur Radio Operators, JARS members can provide a very reliable communications system, even when power is out, cell phone towers are overloaded or compromised, or any other time when other normal methods of communication are interrupted.

Amateur Radio is constantly on the leading edge of radio and communications technology and can communicate across the street or around the world using voice, Morse Code, pictures, and even computer driven text messaging - without phones or the Internet.

JARS is dedicated to helping federal, state, and local governments ensure reliable and interoperable communications systems to unburden critical human and equipment resources during times of disaster and/or emergency. These critical services are provided on a volunteer basis by JARS, at no cost to the government or taxpayers.

We thank you for visiting our online home, and encourage you to spend some time looking around, and please feel free to let us know if you have any questions. If you are an Amateur Radio Operator or are interested in becoming one, and you live in or near the Johnson County, southern Tarrant County or western Ellis County Texas area we would love to have you as part of our team. Visit our membership section for more information. Have a great day!
