JARS Leadership

Bill’s amateur radio interests include QRP (low power) and portable operation, public service and emergency communications, SWL (long wave through uhf), and homebrewing. He is a member of the ARRL, NORTEX QRP Club, the Arlington Amateur Radio Club as well as JARS. Now retired, he has more time to devote to ham radio and plans to become active in Summits on the Air (SOTA) in spite of the lack of summits close to Mansfield! He is active in Tarrant County RACES/ARES and keeps current by attending annual weather school. He has completed the ARRL EmComm level 1 and 2 courses as well as FEMA training.

Gary's technical expertise is an invaluable part of the JARS team. As an amateur radio operator for over forty five years, Gary has a very diverse background in radio communications and has participated actively with SKYWARN and RACES for several years. Gary maintains an extensive array of radio antennas and has a vast and detailed knowledge of antenna design and construction. Gary owns and operates an electronics repair company. Gary's other interests include both R/C and full sized airplanes as a pilot and restorer of over 15 aircraft. He currently holds an Extra Class HAM License and is SKYWARN qualified.

Josh has had his Extra Class license for almost three years, and his main interests in HAM Radio are antenna and tower work, digital modes, community service, storm spotting, and emergency communications. He currently has a 60 foot tower for Radio Communications with five separate antennas mounted on it, all of which are completely homebrew. He is also a member of Tarrant County RACES, and is both SKYWARN and ICS qualified.
